Rome H. Geragonis is a self-taught artist working with ceramic, glass, paint, and various other materials.
Born in Athens, Greece, he moved with his family to the USA at the age of 2, where he explored his creative side through traveling, photography, clothing design, and experimenting with different artistic styles and techniques.
The contrasts of nature and industry, mundane and symbolic, chaos and order are themes found throughout Geragonis' body of work. Abstract shapes are formed out of strings and solid materials glued together in harmonious accord, often allowing disparate elements to appear as they are working in unison. These contradictions, along with the relationship of patterns and boundaries, address Geragonis' desire to provide an insightful outlook on life and to immerse people in different cultures simply and elegantly.
Since starting his artistic odyssey in 2016, Geragonis has developed his signature style of glass and pottery through improvisation and experimentation. Working without a fixed concept or predetermined plan, he enjoys letting his imagination and creative energy guide him toward new artistic heights. His effervescent wanderlust and personal philosophy of being a global citizen are evident in various ceramic pieces collected from around the world, and fashioned together to create a unique multicultural collage of contemporary art.
